Nativity of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church is located on Five Mile Road and Haggerty Road in Plymouth, Michigan. There are approximately 250 families and growing. The Nativity church youth basketball program was originally started back in the early 1990’s by Alex Caryannopoulos, but unfortunately was dissolved a few years later.
In 1999, the Nativity Church resurrected the kids youth basketball program. Our first youth basketball team consisted of 14 boys and girls between the ages of 7 to 12 years old.
As of today, the Nativity Basketball Program has grown to approximately 100+ youth boys and girls with six different age groups and teams. In addition, we have also created a 19 years and older men’s league. Our basketball program now has more participants than any of our church youth programs.
Our mission is simple: allow the children to enjoy the sport of basketball while building a foundation of long-lasting friendships and fostering the development of all-around positive character of each individual participant.
